Since Rutgers is a very large university with many organizations and a strong community involvement, there are plenty events to keep you occupied and entertained all year long. Just make sure that your involvement in these activities does not postpone your dissertation defense :)

Rutgers University Events
Rutgers University has a very extensive calender of events including sports, arts and music, movies, talks and seminars, outdoor activities etc. This list is regularly updated and events are added all the time. Rutgers Student Life Events Calendar
These are events organized by a the Rutgers University Student Life group. Most of these events are held in the Student Centers and are free to attend. In the past year, some interesting events included Broadway shows, workshops on belly-dancing and capoeira, free massages, etc. Find the events calender at the getinvoved website.
GSA events
The Graduate Student Organization organizes events specifically graduate students. These events range from weekly movie screenings to really wild parties. Sign up to the GSA email list at GSA Event List to receive weekly event notices from the GSA. Find the events listed at the GSA Events Calender.
International Student Affairs Committee (ISAC)
ISAC is a venue for international students to meet, socialize and make friends. ISAC holds bi-weekly “Multicultural Social Hours” to encourage continuing contact & friendship between international graduate students. The Daily Targum
The Daily Targum is the Rutgers' daily newspaper and can be picked up from almost all campus buildings, easily at the Student Centers. The newspaper has a information on many local events, advertisements from several organizations and limited time discount offers at local restaurants.
