Getting a SSN/ITIN

Everyone who has earns in the United States must obtain a Social Security Number (SSN), a number used by the U.S. government to identify wage earners for tax purposes. The International Students Office provides further details on how to obtain your SSN as well as the official forms for that. Note that they require a signature of your International Student Advisor.

Also note that some students cannot obtain an SSN, and therefore need an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). See the instructions to get your ITIN here.
