Eat Out?

Where Can I Go Out For Dinner
Check out the New Brunswick Local Guide ("Get Out Today!") in your packets.
Downtown New Brunswick (George St & the surrounding streets) and Easton Ave are the main hangouts near campus for students. Downtown New Brunswick has restaurants, bars and cafes ranging from very cheap to very expensive.
Easton Ave is aimed more at the students, with lots of reasonably priced places to eat, with many takeout restaurants & pubs.
If you want something reasonably priced, try “Stuff Yer Face” (American), “Evelyn’s” (Lebanese), “Efes” (Turkish), “Noodle Gourmet” (Asian) or “Paulie’s Pizza’ on Easton Ave. If Mongolian interests you, there is a huge “Round Grill” closer to New Brunswick Station, very affordable. If you want something a little classier try “Harvest Moon” or “Old Man Rafferty’s” in New Brunswick. Most restaurants will offer vegetarian dishes but there is also a vegan restaurant called “Zafra’s” at 46 Paterson street (off George Street in downtown NB).
When Should I Tip?
Tipping is usually optional, but often expected in the USA. Typically you would tip 10 to 20% at restaurants, to taxi drivers, hairdressers, bar-tenders, etc. The tip should be calculated on the total bill before tax. Note that restaurants may charge a mandatory “service charge” or “gratuity”(15 to 18%) for large groups and in such cases a additional tip is not required.
