The TA/GA Steering Committee is made up of graduate student representatives from the various academic departments and meets biweekly to organize around our strategic goals. The Steering Committee works on concerns central to graduate student life, including academic freedom and integrity, student rights, on-campus housing costs, and visa reform
The GSA TA/GA Steering Committee also works in cooperation with the Rutgers AAUP-AFT*, which is the union of Teaching Assistants, Graduate Assistants, Part-time Lecturers, and Full-time Faculty. The Rutgers AAUP-AFT negotiates with the university to win higher pay, improved benefits, and better working conditions for graduate students. Our cooperative organizing work has resulted in major TA/GA stipend increases, improved grievance procedures, and enhanced the health care services enjoyed by all grad students who are TAs and GAs.
